1945 Negro League All Star Game
 On July 29, 1945, the Negro League All Star Game was
held at Comiskey Park in Chicago. Always a highlight in the
African American community, fans from all over the U.S. attended.
 Four Cleveland Buckeyes played in the game for the West team:
 Lloyd Davenport, right-fielder (pictured);
 Archie Ware,  first baseman;
 Quincy Trouppe, catcher; and
 Gene Bremer, pitcher.

   Quincy Trouppe would have a hit in
one at bat and score two runs; Archie Ware
had two hits in four at bats and drove in
three runs and scored a run. Gene Bremer
got the Save pitching the game's final out.
   Lloyd "Ducky" Davenport (pictured here)
had a double in four at bats and scored one run.
It would be his last game in a Buckeyes uniform
as he would sign a contract after the game
to finish the season playing ball in Mexico.
     Other notable players who appeared in the
game were Jackie Robinson on the West team
and Roy Campanella, catcher for the
Baltimore Elite Giants on the East team.
